Russia has enormous potential for energy experts

Berlin, 23 March 2015. With this year's spring awakening, Corporate Energies company group explores business opportunities in the Russian energy market by examining project orders for its subsidiary companies.

Recent developments in Russia's energy policy have demonstrated an increased interest in renewable energy sources. The Russian government has begun to promote the expansion of production capacities in the field of renewable energy technologies to expand power generation based on renewable energy. The Energy Strategy of Russia until 2020 sets the target for installed renewable electricity generation to 4.5 percent by 2020.

Russia has substantial and diverse wind, hydro, geothermal, biomass and solar energy resources. Nearly all regions have at least one or two forms of renewable energy that can be harnessed commercially, while some regions are rich in all forms of sustainable resources. Combining Russia's high potential of renewable energy resources with modern and sophisticated renewable energy technologies suggest that investment in renewable energy in Russia could generate strong economic and social benefits.

According to a study of the International Energy Agency (IEA) some remote territories such as Kamchatka, Republic Tyva and Republic Altai spend more than half of their budgets on fuel. Facing frequent disruptions of energy supply due to long distances between regions and unstable weather and transportation conditions, locally-available renewable energy sources become increasingly attractive as an alternative to current traditional and expensive energy supplies.
